Welcome
From the President
I wanted to introduce myself, Christa McManus, as the current President of the York Chester National Historic District Neighborhood Association. For those of you who were able to attend our Annual Members Meeting in February, I was pleased to both see you there and have the opportunity to meet and chat with you.
I became President at the beginning of 2010, and I'm happy to do what I can in this capacity for what we all care about, our neighborhood. I've been a 12 year resident of York Chester, and my love for this place we all call home is evidenced by the fact that we bought another house here after selling our first one in the neighborhood. My family was growing, and we needed more space-yet instead of heading to the suburbs-I chose to stay as I truly knew this was the neighborhood I wanted to continue living in with my family.
I'm gratified to see the positive changes and improvements to York Chester brought about by concerned residents such as yourselves, volunteers, our Board and neighborhood association members, and other local, state and national policy bodies that have similar goals of preserving and injecting new life into areas such as ours.
I'd like to end my first President's letter by heartily extending an invitation to all of you who want to be a part of the good things happening in our neighborhood, to join in and volunteer in whatever capacity you can so that we together can continue to provide a legacy for future residents of York Chester. Our neighborhood has many wonderful and significant homes, but our most valuable resources are the people like you who can make our shared dream of an even greater Historic District in Gastonia a reality. Please feel free to contact anyone on the Neighborhood Association Board to share your ideas, or to find out how you can also make a difference!
With my best regards,
Christa McManus
