WHY I MOVED (BACK) TO YORK CHESTER
The huge wrap around porch at our previous home on 6th Ave in York Chester presented a warm welcome before anyone even opened the door. Like most of the homes in York Chester the curb appeal had a way of pulling one in for a closer look. Soon we were expecting our fourth child and the need for a bigger home for our bigger family took us to a regular old subdivision. We immediately missed the diverse people that comprise York Chester: independent singles that shared their adventures keeping us young, master gardeners with a great sense of humor, past mayors that could point you in the right direction on any topic, families, empty nesters and more.
The people of York Chester, brought together by the common thread of celebrating things of strong character and unique style, also share the gift of hospitality evidenced by a friendly chat in the yard outside in the beauty and warmth of our neighborhood. York Chester is wonderfully walkable, and from almost any home, a walk of less than a mile will get you to the YMCA, the post office, library, great restaurants, parks, shops, concerts, multiple offices and many excellent churches.
When I lived on 6th Avenue, I had much better energy from walking to church, to pick the kids up from school and just to enjoy soaking in the beauty that is York Chester. The only place I did not walk was to the mail box. What a treat on a bad weather day to have mail delivered right to your door! So we bought a house to fit our family of six that has big shady trees, lots of hardwood floors in an area with sidewalks galore and the best neighbors. We've put a lot of effort and love into making this home ours over the past year and we've truly enjoyed moving back 'home' to York Chester! Thanks for all you do, to make York Chester and downtown Gastonia, such a great place to live, work and play.
